Inlaid Floors

Inlaid mosaic floors date back 5000 years and were used by the Romans in intricate designs to decorate dwellings and public places. Roman families used mosaics to illustrate their history and standing in society. The artwork told a story and was used in entry ways and in gathering rooms where visitors would be able to see these focal points.

Marlene's craftsmanship adorns homes and offices through out the Hill country of Texas.

This is a 4' x 4' magnolia tile mosaic created for my custom home. This bathroom was the size of my first apartment! This floor mosaic added warmth and was such a cleaner look than a rug that would require maintenance.
I was very careful to make each piece match and this is what is called a very "tight weave", which is still my style because a loose weave exposes too much grout and can look very sloppy. Grout has a tendency to chip or crack if you have too much of it exposed. I always use sanded grout no matter what my project is.
